New Image: Female Northern Cardinal
Time to step away from Iceland for a little while and return to my adopted home of west Texas.
The latest addition to the SmugMug site is a female Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) perched on a tree branch near San Angelo. This is a relatively unique image in that I have caught her in mid-chirp and her beak is open.
The Northern Cardinal is perhaps my favorite bird to photograph. Having grown up in California, I had never seen one in person until about 10 years ago. But I remember seeing pictures of them in my youth and being amazed of the male’s brilliant color and the unique crested appearance.
As always, this image is available in sizes up to and including 11×14.
Nice Cardinal photo, Jim. The Norther Cardinal is one of my favorites, too. Bob
