New Eruption at Eyjafjallajökull and personal update

This is going to be a relatively short update as I’m home for lunch and my time is incredibly short right now.  Any grammatical issues will be resolved hopefully later this evening.

Eyjafjallajökull is at it again.  Now what is traditionally referred to as the main peak at Eyjafjallajökull has erupted, and according to Iceland Review, this eruption is significantly bigger than the Fimmvörðuháls eruption that occurred last month.  The original eruption slowed down considerably before the new eruption went off.  Unfortunately for those surrounding Eyjafjallajökull, this eruption is under the glacier and there are reports of flooding.  In short, this is not a great time to for site seeing at the new or old eruption sites as the flooding could be significant and has the potential to break apart the ring road the same way the 1996 Grímsvötn eruption did.   Again, Iceland Review is doing an outstanding reporting this story to the English speaking world and I highly recommend you visit their site for the latest conditions.  As always, my thoughts are with my Icelandic friends who treated me like a long-lost brother during my 7 years in the country.  Bænir fyrir þig og hugsanlega fjölskyldu þína.

As for yours truly–no photography since I’ve gotten back to school.  This quarter is proving to be more hectic than was anticipated and the last two weekends have been non-stop homework affairs.  This weekend is not looking good either for weather or for potential workload, so I’m hoping the following weekend will allow me to get out of the house

Prayers to you and your family.
